Wilson's Boat Yard
See traditional and modern shipwright skills, hear Jay’s stories from the last 40 years in boatbuilding, be introduced to the world of design and surveying with Terry and touch Huon Pine patiently waiting for its purpose. Wilson’s Boat Yard was opened in 1863 by the Wilson family, although the shed has changed locations over the last 150 or so years, it has seen the likes of Island Star, Maori Lass and Neilma G come out its doors. Ketches, trading vessel and even schooners, Wilson’s Boat Yard is a significant piece of Tasmania’s maritime history. John Alexander, new owner, invites you to along share, preserve and develop the Wilson's maritime traditions.
