Australian Wooden Boat Festival: 10th - 13th February 2023

Parade of Sail

The opening event, held on Friday 10th February, 2023, with 250+ boats and Tall Ships making their way up the Derwent to the Festival. Boats start at approximately 12pm off Sandy Bay's Long Beach and sail up towards Sullivan's Cove to dock. 

Admiral's Sail

Closing event of departing vessels, held on Monday 13th February at 4pm, boats depart Sullivan's Cove and sail past the Navy Ship off the Regatta Grounds. 

 

Living Boat Trust Tawe Nunnugah Raid

Join the adventure from Recherche Bay to Sullivan's Cove prior to the AWBF. A series of small sailing and rowing boats completing the voyage of a lifetime. More info: livingboattrust.org.au

 

Forster Cup


The Restricted 21’ Class Interstate Race was the first of its kind in Australia and from 1921 has been staged in Goolwa, Perth, Hobart, Queensland and Sydney. In 2023, we’ll hold the first Forster Cup rally series in decades on Saturday February 11th at 12 noon and Sunday February 12th at 12noon

Ketch Review


An historic sailing review between friendly rival ketches.

Once an essential part of Tasmania's maritime culture.

The Ketch Review will be held Sunday February 12th at 2pm.

Derwent World Championships


The D-class yachts are a one class design made for the River Derwent. The class has seen a revival in recent years with a keen squadron of young sailors. The Derwent Worlds will be held Saturday February 11th at 12noon and Sunday February 12th at 12noon.
