Take some time out to connect with your creative side while exploring the art of the ‘prose poem’. Shorter than a short story, less scary than a poem, a prose poem might explore an episode, a moment, a thought … or even an object.

Maritime Museum of Tasmania 2021 writer-in-residence Danielle Wood will lead this two-hour workshop, at which you’ll learn all the tricks in the trade from award winning Danielle herself. As part of her writer-in-residence role at MMT, Danielle spent days scavenging through the basement of the museum trawling through nautical artefacts, maps and charts. Her love of the ocean and the wind swept historical items gave Danielle the inspiration to write a poem we love, D Class Dreams.

This workshop will be hosted in the Port Cygnet Sailing Club so please bring something to write with and something to write on. If you can, please leave at home all anxieties about writing, and instead, pack your willingness to have fun.
