In 1975 we moved to the West Coast and became fascinated by the Piners Punts. Sometimes we visited a Mrs Doherty at Strahan. It was only later that we realized the significance of her name in relation to punt building at Strahan. At Strahan I also purchased a few pieces of Huon Pine at the sawmill and some of this is incorporated in “Miss Doherty’s gunwale.
