The Andrew Hardy was built as shark boat in Stanley and the vessel has had many owners over its time. My father, Brian Franklin, purchased the boat in 1986. The vessel then became involved in the abalone industry as well as continuing to catch rock lobster. The vessel participated in the 1988 Tall Ships Race and is currently rock lobster fishing. Boat is a traditional Tasmanian fishing boat, based on a Norwegian trawler design. The boat is built from Celery Top Pine with a King Billy Pine deck underlay and Huon Pine covering boards.
